Voting is an essential function of citizens to participate in shaping the future of their country.
In order to vote in the U.S., a person must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, meet state/local residency requirements, and be registered by election day guidelines per state.
Persons who cannot vote include non-citizens, those with some felony convictions, and some who are mentally incapacitated.
